The ones that come to Buildcom are given the opportunity to start over and make life right again. |
Buildcom is a non-profit alternative education program. A referral-based residential care program for youth aged thirteen to sixteen, Buildcom utilizes a threefold approach to alternative education. Focusing on the spiritual life, academic needs, and development of skills in our students, Buildcom enables troubled young people to get a fresh start in life. Our goal is to assist students in learning how to make wise choices. Counseling materials and services form a key part of this training. Some of the issues dealt with in counseling include anger resolution, bitterness, multiples types of abuse, and relational dysfunction.
A key principle of Buildcom is to actively work with the immediate family and social support structure of each student. This is facilitated through regular weekly contact with parents and other support people. Buildcom utilizes an activity-based learning approach and personalized mentoring. Students learn and grow by involvement in various projects, including hands-on, interactive instruction in many areas of skills and abilities. A positive, encouraging setting is fostered by low student to mentor ratio, personalized academic tutoring, and a friendly and inclusive atmosphere.
